I’ve made some mistakes and have fallen behind on some housekeeping matters with the Electric Sky. I took this opportunity to get things back on track.

I delayed the release of this show until I could connect with Ian Copeland, who is the feature guest of this show. Thanks for your patience.

Ian happened into the role of booking agent in the 1970’s, following two tours of duty in Vietnam. Among the many artists he booked tours for are The Police, Sting, Squeeze, Ultravox, Gang of Four, The Go-Go’s and Joan Jett. He now runs The Backstage Cafe in Beverly Hills, California, after retiring from Frontier Booking International, a booking agency he set up. His book, Wild Thing, is a great read!

I’m still learning the ropes of putting a show together. My inexperience and lack of planning means that I end up putting my shows together until the wee hours of the morning. I hope to get better at this over time. Feedback is always appreciated.

I wasn’t planning on putting another Podcast out so soon. However, the circumstances demanded it. In response to a request I made to interview CBC’s All In A Day host, Brent Bambury, on interview techniques and show preparation for the Electric Sky, I was invited to be a guest on the show – to interview and be interviewed. This Podcast follows my final preparations to appear on the show, nerves and all, through a soundseeing tour.

  • Show intro from an elevator
  • Segment from the All In A Day intro
  • Final preparations at the Terry Fox statue
  • CBC building including the waiting area
  • Meeting Brent in the studio
  • Podcasting vs. Broadcasting segment (broadcast live on CBC)
  • Feedback from family and friends
  • Song: Sitting on Top of the World performed by Harry Manx

Thanks a million to Brent Bambury and Sarah MacFadyen for their support and hospitality, and Tracey Page of Dog My Cat Records for permission to play music by Harry Manx on the show.

Show 7, complete with some didge, is dedicated to the memory of a good friend, Rick, who drowned while fishing on May 21, 2000. I miss you!

I managed to pull this show off while battling a head cold, sneaking sips of tea as I went. What a relief, particularly since I had the opportunity to get some pointers from Tod Maffin for my Podcast – pointers that we can all learn from.

  • I celebrated my 35th birthday
  • My sister-in-law’s wedding at Wolfe Manor
  • Remembering Rick

My guest in Show 06 is TMC, who, along with Dark, started New Artist Radio (NAR) four years ago to promote independent music over the Internet by producing a weekly MP3 streamed radio show. They have grown from their beginnings with just ten artists, to about four thousand today.

At long last, the Art Turner interview I did, as the first ever interview for the Electric Sky Podcast, about three weeks ago. Art Turner is a fingerstyle guitar player from Winnipeg, Manitoba who I first learned about at last year’s Ottawa Folk Festival when he performed with Shane Simpson and Paul Bourdeau.
