Jim Bouton
Podcasts, Portrait

Sunday, January 29, 2006 - 7:00 pm

I first read Ball Four in 1998. I bought it because I was a baseball fan. Unexpectedly, I enjoyed the book more for the personal reflections and how the events in the book seemed to trigger my own emotionally charged reactions. Jim Bouton’s story is an amazing one and I encourage you to read Ball Four and check out Jim’s website to learn more about his story.

Dating was hard enough in the 80s and 90s - the new millennium has brought about new rules and new ways to meet people. The idea of speed dating is 8 people, 8 minutes, 1 night (thanks Mostly Tunes for the inspiration). In this episode, I take you on a tour of a night of speed dating.

  • Show ID and Intro
  • Interview with Catharine Veenstra of The Dating Field
  • Audio clips of Speed Dating participants

Ian Boyd on Independent Music Retailers
Podcasts, Portrait

Sunday, January 8, 2006 - 7:00 pm

The record companies have been very clear on their position with respect to the Digital Music Revolution, musicians seem to be split on the issue, and consumers have made their voices heard as well. How about the independent retailers? I haven’t heard anything from them. That’s why I sat down with Ian Boyd of Compact Music to find out his thoughts on this subject.

Great turnout at the Ottawa Podcast Meetup
Meetups, Posts

Friday, January 6, 2006 - 9:55 pm

Ottawa Podcast MeetupThe Ottawa Podcast Meetup was a great success, due in large part to a caravan of folks from Quebec (Montreal and Hull). We had a great time, gave away a copy of The Secrets of Podcasting by Bart Farkas, and three Canadian Podcast Buffet t-shirts.

There’s talk of a meetup in Montreal in late March and a large gathering in Kingston, ON in June.
